Permit To Photograph Uluru

Uluru

To those who have concerns about obtaining a permit to photograph Uluru to sell shouldn’t be deterred by the amount of paperwork required prior to going there. I spoke to the Media manager at National Parks Wildlife at the Uluru- Katja Tjuta National Park about it and she was more than helpful in every way about it, which made the process very easy for me. While there is a strict set of guidelines to adhere to, the media centre will run you through them all. Once you have obtained a permit you are then allowed to go and photograph Uluru and the Olgas for a period of 3 years.

The process doesn’t end at you obtaining a permit though, once you have selected your images that you want to sell to the public, you then have to submit them to the Uluru Media Centre via disc or e-mail and they will send you back a list of what is allowed to be used and what isn’t allowed, its that easy. I made the mistake of titling my images Ayres Rock and I was advised by the centre about using the correct term and made the changes required.

Be rest assured that if you take your chance and sell your images without a permit, it states that the fine for an individual is 55 grand and for a company 250 grand. So for a small effort of filling out some forms it’s really not worth taking the chance.
