Hasselblad Flextight X1

Hasselblad Flextight X1
A few days ago I received my Hasselblad Flextight X1 scanner by courier. Knowing the quality of images that you can produce from scanners of this type, I was looking forward to being set up as all my images on my site are scanned by a drum scanner, I was also quite excited of being able to do my own scanning and adding what photos I wanted to my site. Plus I was also looking forward to seeing what attributes that a scanner like this could produce.
I took the huge and well packed box that arrived home and set it up to be ready for scanning. After reading the instructions and going through the tutorial that are both supplied by Hasselblad which I found very easy to understand. I then loaded up my first panoramic image to be scanned. And as I loaded I was thinking that this wont take long as it scans at 60mb/min.
Well this is where my excitement was depleted in a matter of seconds, as the loud clunking noise that came from the scanner told me that something was seriously wrong.
I rang CR Kennedy in Melbourne and as they have no technicians here in Katherine I have been forced to put the scanner back in the box and send it to Melbourne, only then did I find out that it will take at least 10 days each way before I even think about getting it back Peter told me that this is the second time that he has heard of this happening and that it is a very rare occurrence.
Once I have my scanner back I will post a new topic about how it went and my fist scanned photo.

Casey, I work at the Toronto Canada dealer for these products (as well as the digital backs and integrated systems) and our standard policy here has always been to open the box and fully test the device BEFORE shipping it to the client. Your dealer is correct in that this kind of a malfunction is rare, but had the scanner been tested in the store, it would have identified the issue as having occured on the trip from Denmark to the dealer, and not from dealer to you. In any case, when you get it back you will LOVE the images from this machine.
Dean
Dean thank you for your comments,
I am not blaming anyone for the very rare chance of this happening to anyone it was just one of things that are not in our control, I am more disappointed in the time I will have to wait till I get it back as I am in a very remote area of part of Australia and that I can’t start scanning with this great scanner. I am also greatful that a rep from Hasselblad has pointed out what happens to the scanner before leaving the country. I have used a lot of Hasselblad cameras and I have no doubt about the outstanding quality and workmanship goes into anything that leave Denmark. Dean I have no doubt I will love the the scann’s that the Imacon will produce as all the photos on my website are from such a scanner, it was just time to buy my own.
Cheers,
Casey.
